There are a lot of expensive products out there touting the benefits of CoQ10. You could probably spend a small fortune in hopes of reducing the signs of aging in your skin. I know because we don’t have cable and sometimes QVC is seriously more interesting than whatever is on Fox! Man do they sell a lot of skincare products!

Well I have another suggestion and this one only costs about $2. Sardines! You’ll kill 2 birds with one stone: help your skin AND eat lunch. It’s fantastic.

And CoQ10 is just the beginning. Sardines are a real powerhouse of nutrients. That humble little can is brimming with vitamin B12, selenium, omega-3 oils, protein, phosphorus and vitamin D, calcium and iron. Are you sold yet?

The best part about sardines is that you don’t have to do diddly squat. Just open the can and they are ready to go. You can throw into a garlicy pasta dish or on top of a salad. Done.

When the weather gets warm I really never feels like cooking, so this is a super way of eating well without turning on the stove. In the photo above I combined sardines with sprouted adzuki beans and tossed with lettuce, apple cider vinegar, a little olive oil, S+P.

Yum! I think sardines and anchovies are too neglected. They have a phenomenal nutrient profile.

My grandpa used to love sardines out of the can. I can’t say if I’m a fan or not b/c I’ve never really tried them. Glad to know about their rich nutrient content.

Sardines are popular here, but in the fresh fish form, not canned. I think it has to do with the Portuguese influences. I watched a friend eat one once and there were more bones than meat so I’ve never given it a try.

I’m intrigued. I love anchovies (at least the ones they serve in Italy) but have no idea how to get top quality anchovies or sardines. Are they all pretty much the same or like every other real food, influenced by the grower, region, etc.
