If I were a shoe, I’d be EarthiesMarch 20, 2011
When I was studying graphic design, I visited a design studio in Rotterdam who used an extensive questionnaire with its clients. They asked all sorts of questions: If your brand was a car what kind of car would it be? Stuff like that.
Well folks, if I were a shoe I’d be Earthies. Hands down. They are a spinoff from Earth’s line of truly healthy, comfortable footwear. Sure, these Earthies don’t have the reverse heel technology, they ARE after all high heels. But MAN are they comfy. “Yes, you can look amazing and take care of yourself!” they seem to shout.
You mean I don’t have to be a 100% crunchy granola lookin’ momma? How dreamy.
In case you were wondering, social media marketing totally works. I saw a blog post about these shoes last week and immediately searched for a store that sold them. Bam! There was one just down the street. Guess where the baby and I took our stroll? Yup. I walked straight in and tried on just about every pair they had. These heels were actually the most comfortable for my foot, though I dare say I’ll be back to snag another style in the future.
I’ve posted before about how I don’t really wear heels anymore – not like I used to! Oh man, I don’t think I owned any flat shoes 8 years ago. Now my heels are for special occasions only and they need to be like these Earthies: super supportive and comfortable. I have one other pair from Sofft. But c’mon. Earthies are way hotter.
And this week they helped me see myself again as a woman, in a way. Not just a baby-and-milk making machine. Not just as a sleepyheaded momma cleaning projectile poop off the wall! (5 feet away. Go baby!)
I put on these heels and suddenly my leggings went from ‘sensible mom wear’ to ‘hottie fashion statement.’ Woot.
Another thing I noticed this week that felt good is the baby weight dropping away with no effort at all. That’s not to say that my body looks or feels quite like it did pre-pregnancy…but in pounds at least I’m back to “normal.” Man, oh man the human body is amazing.
Anyway, Danny is 4 weeks old tomorrow and I feel the need to reclaim myself just a little bit. So maybe I’ll get out of my pajamas, maybe I’ll wear makeup. Maybe I’ll find an occasion to wear these heels…ha! Like a trip to Whole Foods?
In 2 more weeks my c-section will be healed enough for me to get back to yoga. That will be huge. In the meantime…
To indulge a little on a daily basis, I have been immensely enjoying natural skincare products from Annemarie Gianni, guest expert from my You’re Freaking Gorgeous skincare class. And my husband has been taking the babe for a few hours in the evening, allowing me an occasional soak in the tub.
What do you do that makes you feel awesome about yourself? You know, when you look in the mirror and say, “Nice!!”
We can all use some new ideas, right? Taking care of yourself is more than eating kale, after all. So please join me by taking extra good care of yourself this week and let me know how you did it!
