Mango Green Smoothie: Detox recipe 18 of 21May 18, 2011
Welcome to 21 Days of Detoxing! Whether you are one of our amazingly motivated participants or just interested in eating clean, whole, real food – boy do I have some recipes for you! From now ’til May 21st I’ll be featuring a delicious detox-friendly recipe each day. (And if you want to get in on the detox magic I have a Do It Yourself version available – right here.)
Let’s talk about why I don’t like Trader Joe’s.
For some reason, everyone thinks they sell healthy food. Newsflash – they don’t. Not really. Try finding one of their boxed or canned products without added sugars or refined grains. Half the dried fruit has sulfites or sugar or something gross added. Very little is organic. They don’t sell a peanut butter that isn’t homogenized. They sell a lot of soy-based packaged food. The grass fed beef leaves something to be desired.
Ok, now let’s talk about why I LOVE Trader Joe’s.
Soaps and detergents for such a low price. Organic yogurt and milk. Caffeine free teas for cheap. Peppermint Joe Joe’s during the holidays…my big downfall, but still Bags of not only salad greens but kale and mustard greens too! And…chopped, frozen fruit of all kinds!
I suggest you fill your freezer with their frozen fruit selection so your green smoothies can be exciting every day with no extra chopping or washing on your part. I mean, I love cooking and preparing food but…come on. A little help never hurt.
Today’s smoothie recipe is totally worth making that trip to TJ’s. Just don’t be fooled into thinking that display of cakes and breads are healthy, ok?
Mango Green Smoothie
1 cup frozen mango
1/4-1/2 cup parsley
1 big kale leaf (optional – little extra green)
1 1/2 cups water
Blend away baby!
